How Many Foldable Solar Panels Can You Chain to One Power Station?

Summary

The limit is set by the combined voltage and current, not by total watts. EcoFlow's 60 W foldable panel has an open-circuit voltage of 25.5 V, so two panels in series reach 51 V and three reach 76.5 V. On an EcoFlow DELTA 2, whose solar input tops out at 60 V, that works out to two panels in series.

One panel, by the numbers

The user manual for the 60 W panel (model EF-Fold-P060-CG) lists 60 W ±3 W, an open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 25.5 V, 21.9 V at maximum power, a short-circuit current (Isc) of 3.1 A, and 2.9 A at maximum power. It weighs about 2.0 kg (4.41 lb) and folds to 317 × 309 × 45 mm (12.48 × 12.17 × 1.77 in); opened, it is 1,356 mm (53.39 in) long.

EcoFlow asks owners to confirm that the panel's open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current sit within the input range of whatever device it feeds. Its FAQ answers "Is the panel compatible with all EcoFlow portable power stations?" by pointing to the panel's electrical parameters and the station's solar-input limits. SolarPanelX does not certify pairings; the specifications from both manufacturers decide.

What adds up in series and in parallel

Wiring identical panels in series adds their voltages while current stays at one panel's value. Parallel wiring adds current and leaves voltage where it was. EcoFlow generally recommends series when the load is a portable power station.

The DELTA 2 manual rates the solar input at 11 to 60 V, 15 A max, 500 W max, so three in series overshoot on voltage. Parallel wiring keeps voltage flat, and the panel manual separately tells owners to check in advance how many panels the power source can take.

Those voltages are measured at 25 °C. With a Voc temperature coefficient of −0.25%/°C, a panel at 0 °C reads about 6% higher: roughly 27.1 V on its own and 54.2 V for two in series.

Shade and aim

In series, one shaded or damaged panel pulls down the whole string noticeably. In parallel, EcoFlow says, a shaded panel barely affects the others. At a campsite where tree shadows creep across the ground through the afternoon, that difference shows up directly in how much charge you collect.

Each panel carries a sun-angle guide; the aim is correct when the dot's shadow sits in the center. The manual also describes leaning the panel against a tent for a steeper angle. A 2.5 m solar-to-XT60i cable comes in the box, and EcoFlow does not recommend third-party cables.
