What Separates the OUPES MEGA 1 From the MEGA 2 Besides Battery Size?

Summary

The MEGA 2 stores twice as much energy (2,048 Wh against 1,024 Wh), but the wider gap is solar input. The MEGA 1 takes up to 800 W at 12–78 V DC, the MEGA 2 up to 2,100 W at 12–148 V DC, and only the MEGA 2 has a TT-30R outlet for an RV. The MEGA 1 weighs 27.8 lb and the MEGA 2 48.5 lb.

Both run on LiFePO4 cells rated for more than 3,500 cycles to 80%, and both carry a five-year warranty that grows by a year when the owner registers. Every AC outlet on both units is 120 V. Neither has a 240 V output.

Counting 240 W panels

OUPES's 240 W folding panel ($357) is listed at 24.6 V open circuit and 20.5 V and 11.7 A at maximum power. The store's bundles stop at two of these panels for the MEGA 1 and four for the MEGA 2. Four panels come to 960 W, under half of the MEGA 2's 2,100 W ceiling. How many panels to connect, and whether in series or parallel, follows the input voltage and current limits in OUPES's manual.

The B2 expansion battery (2,048 Wh, $600) carries its own solar input of up to 2,100 W through an 18–140 V, 15 A MPPT. One B2 takes a MEGA 1 to 3,072 Wh.

Thirty dollars apart

The product pages price the MEGA 1 at $699 and the MEGA 2 at $729, down from a regular $1,499. The MEGA 2 is on preorder with an October 15 ship date. OUPES's 2026 buying guide lists five current MEGA models: the MEGA 1 Lite and MEGA 1 at 1,024 Wh, the MEGA 2 and MEGA 2 Pro at 2,048 Wh, and the MEGA 3 at 3,072 Wh. It describes the MEGA 1 Lite as the one that cannot take B2 batteries.
