Is a Solar Generator a Different Product From a Portable Power Station?

Summary

Usually it is the same box with a panel added. Jackery defines a portable power station as something that stores electricity and a solar generator as a portable power station bundled with solar panels. Its Solar Generator 1000 v2 is the Explorer 1000 v2, sold on its own under that name, plus one 200 W panel, and the listings share SKUs.

How Jackery draws the line

In an explainer updated September 11, 2026, Jackery splits the three products this way. A portable power station is a large rechargeable battery that stores electricity and delivers it through AC, USB, and DC outputs. A solar panel turns sunlight into DC electricity and passes it to a power station; apart from small built-in USB or DC outputs on some models, it cannot run appliances by itself. A solar generator puts the two in a single bundle. The difference, in Jackery's words, is that "a portable power station depends on external sources to recharge," while a solar generator "can recharge itself as long as sunlight is available."

The same SKU under two names

Jackery's store makes the overlap plain. The Solar Generator 1000 v2 page offers the Explorer 1000 v2 with "solar panel not included," and the Explorer 1000 v2 page offers "Explorer 1000 v2 + SolarSaga 200W." The standalone unit and the bundle each carry the same SKU and barcode on both pages.

EcoFlow sells DELTA 3 plus a single panel as a separate product called DELTA 3 Solar Generator. DELTA 3 Plus, by contrast, stays on its portable power station page, where 160 W and 220 W panel bundles are simply listed as options. A panel in the box does not always bring the solar generator name with it.
