REC U.S. Solar Panel Series: Alpha Pure-RX, Pure-R, Pure 2 and Pro M Compared

Published · By the SolarPanelX editors · Updated · See individual checks and dates below

Summary

Four series, all heterojunction, all made in Singapore. For houses: the Alpha Pure-RX at 450 to 470 W and up to 22.6% efficiency, which REC calls its most powerful residential panel; the Alpha Pure-R and Alpha Pure 2 at 400 to 430 W and 22.2 to 22.3%. For commercial roofs: the Alpha Pro M at 610 to 640 W. Every series is warranted to at least 92% of rated power in year 25. U.S. distribution runs through REC Americas LLC in San Luis Obispo, California, and even the "Domestic Content" version of the Alpha Pure-RX is labeled Made in Singapore, assembled with foreign and domestic components.

The four series

SeriesPowerPanel areaMax efficiencyYear-25 minimumFor
Alpha Pure-RX450 to 470 Wp22.4 ft² (2.08 m²)22.6%92%homes
Alpha Pure-R400 to 430 Wp20.8 ft²22.3%92%homes
Alpha Pure 2400 to 430 Wp20.8 ft²22.2%92%homes
Alpha Pro M610 to 640 Wp30.6 ft²22.5%92%commercial

All four use heterojunction (HJT) cells, the other main n-type design beside TOPCon; our mono-versus-poly guide explains the difference, and REC's Alpha Pure-RX is the HJT example there against Qcells' TOPCon Q.TRON.

Match the series to the quote

Ask the installer for the exact series, wattage class and product code. The -DC and standard Pure-RX versions need their own documentation check; a domestic-content label alone does not determine tax eligibility. For manufacturing origin and the source certification documents, use the separate REC origin guide linked below.

How to compare them against a Qcells quote

The Pure-RX's 450 to 470 W on 22.4 square feet against the Q.TRON BLK M-G2+'s 430 W on about 21 square feet is roughly the same power per square foot; the choice between them is usually the installer's supply, the warranty terms side by side (our warranty guide compares them) and price per watt on the quote, which REC does not publish.

What REC does not publish on these pages

A retail installed price for your project. REC does provide an installer locator on its site. Panels reach homeowners through installers; ask the installer which series and which product code is on the quote, since the -DC and standard Pure-RX differ only in certification and labeling.
