What Does a $325 APsystems EZ1 Include, and What Do You Buy Separately?
Summary
The EZ1 sells for $325 in APsystems' U.S. store as a microinverter on its own, with a 5 m power cord in the box. The one or two panels are bought separately, and a $90 APmeter installed at the electrical panel is the add-on for stopping power from flowing to the grid. As for whether it may simply plug into an outlet, the company's own FAQ answers that it depends on the local jurisdiction.

The unit is rated for 900 W maximum continuous output, with a 26 to 60 V operating range, a 27 to 45 V MPPT range, IP67 sealing and a 12-year warranty. The DC side is a low-voltage design under 60 V, and the AP EasyPower app connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. APsystems' announcement of the formal U.S. launch on February 10, 2026, gave a peak efficiency of 97.3%.
Panel voltage is judged against the MPPT window
In answering a question about lower-wattage panels such as 200 W units, the FAQ gives the 27 to 45 V MPPT range and points to the panel datasheet's Vmp and current. So for a small panel, what decides the match is whether its Vmp lands in that window. We do not judge which panels fit; that follows APsystems' and the panel maker's specifications.
Whether it can plug in depends on the address
Asked whether plug-in solar is legal in the U.S., the FAQ says it depends on the local jurisdiction, adding that while the hardware supports plug-and-play, the National Electrical Code generally requires a dedicated branch circuit for permanent solar installations. The EZ1 is CSA certified to UL 3700 and described as meeting UL 1741 SB requirements. That certification applies to the microinverter itself and does not settle what a given address allows.
APsystems says the maximum output can be turned down in the app where a state or utility caps plug-in system size. After an outage, the unit restarts only once grid power has been stable for five minutes.
